Best Eye Shadow Colors for Green Eyes
The Green Eyed Girl and Eye MakeupWomen with green eyes make up a tiny portion of the population and so those that have them are very lucky indeed. Green eyes range in tones, from light hazels to bright greens to even some darker more rich green tones.
One of the neatest aspects of green eyes is that eye shadows and other eye makeup products can actually change the color of the green significantly. For example, if you use a dark gray of any kind your eyes will become a duller lighter green, but with purple, the eyes will change to a much more vivid and bright green. What Eyeshadow Colors to Avoid for Green Eyes
In general, there are really only three eye makeup colors that should be avoided with green eyes and those are blues, pinks, silvers and some say black eyeliner.
I personally don’t agree with the black eyeliner or the blue eye shadow portion, I have green eyes and I use both blue eye shadow (rich darker blue) and black eyeliner for evening wear and I think they look great. I do blend really well, and add a layer of the blue shadow over the black eyeliner line and smudge it out, looks very sexy!
You will have to experiment and see if you like the look with your own eyes. My eyes are a very vivid bright green and so those colors seem to work for me.
Green eye shadow doesn’t work so well because it competes too much with the green eye color and will actually take away from it.
Rule of Thumb for Eyeshadow Colors for Green Eyes
All browns, earth tones and purples always work!
The same as with eye shadow colors for blue eyes, if you want the green in your eyes to pop you need to contrast. All brown tones and purples work great for green eyes.
Match Your FlecksOne interesting and unique aspect of green eyes is that most of them will have various colored flecks in the iris. Some women have yellow; some brown and some even have tiny tints of darker green flecks in their iris. A great green eye makeup trick is take a look at yours and match those colors in eye shadow, this can really make your green eyes pop and create a fantastic effect.
Basic Formula
Red or light hair – fair skin tone = Lighter eyeshadow shades, especially for daytime and lighter eyeliner colors.
Dark hair – darker skin tones = Vibrant and darker shades to accentuate depth.
Once again, as with blue eyes, the green eyed girls often have a wide range of skin tones, hair coloring and overall complexion. There are many women with green eyes that have blonde and red hair and therefore have very light complexions, and there are those that have dark hair, sometimes even black hair and more olive toned skin. For those with very light skin and light hair, using a super dark gray or black shadow with black eyeliner will not look good, it will create an over made up affect and look garish. But, on a woman who has olive skin, black hair and green eyes, the darker richer colors of both eyeshadow and eyeliner will look very dramatic and beautiful. So, remember to always keep your complexion and general coloring in mind when choosing makeup for green eyes and especially your eyeshadow colors.
